Welcome to the IGAD at 40 Anniversary Logo Challenge

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) will mark its 40th Anniversary in 2026, a milestone that reflects four decades of regional cooperation, integration, and development. This celebration provides an opportunity to showcase IGAD’s achievements, vision, and identity in a manner that resonates with the people of the region and the international community.

To highlight this milestone and encourage regional participation, IGAD will launch a public logo design challenge inviting talented designers, artists, and creative individuals across the region to conceptualize and create the official IGAD at 40 Anniversary Logo. The winning logo will be used in all official branding and communications related to the anniversary celebrations.

Objective
The main objective of the challenge is to:

  • Engage the IGAD community and the wider public in commemorating IGAD’s 40th anniversary.
  • Promote creativity and regional identity through a participatory design competition.
  • Develop a memorable and symbolic logo that communicates IGAD’s legacy, achievements, and future vision.
  • The challenge will open on October 15 – November 10, 2025.
  • Participants are required to submit original designs reflecting IGAD’s values of peace, resilience, integration, and development, while celebrating its 40 years of existence.
  • Submissions must include a brief description (100–150 words) explaining the concept behind the design.
  • Open to all citizens of IGAD Member States (Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda).
  • Individual designers, creative teams, or design firms may participate.
  • Each participant may submit a maximum of two designs.
  • 1st Prize: USD 1,000
  • 2nd Prize: USD 700
  • 3rd Prize: USD 300

Winners will also receive certificates of recognition and visibility across IGAD platforms.

  • Submissions will be reviewed by a selection panel composed of IGAD representatives and design experts.
  • Evaluation criteria will include originality, creativity, thematic relevance, technical quality, and scalability across platforms.
  • A high-quality logo symbolizing IGAD at 40, to be officially adopted for anniversary branding.
  • Enhanced public engagement in IGAD’s milestone celebrations.
  • Recognition and promotion of local talent across the IGAD region.
