Food security in the IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development) region is a critical priority due to the recurrent challenges of drought, conflict, and climate change. These issues significantly impact agricultural productivity and access to food, leaving millions vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition. IGAD works with Member states to improve food security by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, enhancing resilience to climate change, and fostering regional cooperation. Through programs like the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP), IGAD aims to build more robust food systems and ensure long-term food security in the region.
