The Introductory Project Cycle Management (PCM) Training Workshop was held in Djibouti on 25th – 27th March 2013 for IGAD Staff. The aim of the specialized three-day training was to build the capacity of the organization in dealing with diverse regional programs and projects and to standardize their formulation, implementation, evaluation and reporting methods. The training sessions were highly interactive and included Group Work exercises focussing on practical experiences. In total, 26 people participated in the training.
The training was organised by the Project Preparation and Management Unit (PPMU) within the framework of “Finland’s Support to the Institutional Strengthening of IGAD” project funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA). The training was carried out with Technical Assistance from NIRAS-Finland, led by Ms. Hanna Mykkanen and Dr. Leena Kirjavainen, Senior Consultants and facilitated by Eng. Mwathi Kung’u and Mr. Beyene Belachew, Regional Experts from PPMU.

IGAD Center for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) conducted a regional workshop on Domestication of the IGAD Animal Health Policy Framework in collaboration with AU-IBAR from March 7-8, 2013 in Kampala, Uganda. The main objective of the workshop was to review the implementation status of the regional policy framework that was approved by Member States in December 2009, identify priority gaps and develop road map for domestication in Member States and thereby improved disease control and intra and inter regional trade.
