IGAD IBF Meeet in Kampala

The Second Meeting of the IGAD Business Forum was convened in Kampala, Uganda. The meeting which was attended by IGAD Member State's national chambers of commerce and industry and representatives from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and IGAD Secretariat called for the advancement of business in the region.

(IGAD - Kampala) The Presidents of Chambers of Commerce and Industry from IGAD Member States chose their host to take on the mantle of the Chairmanship of the revived regional business forum on the first day of a two-day conference in Kampala.

Presidents of Chambers of Commerce and Industry from IGAD Countries Convene in Kampala

(IGAD - Kampala) At a well attended press conference, the President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that her country would be hosting a two-day conference starting tomorrow to revive the IGAD Business Forum emerging from a five-year lull.

Experts from the IGAD Participate discussionsA technical meeting aimed at charting the way forward for IGAD regional integration agenda was held in Djibouti.

IGAD Executive Secretary, Eng. Mahboub Maalim, speaking to delegates from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda noted that IGAD Member States had since 1996 endeavored to pursue regional integration agenda.

H.E. Eng. Maalim“Regional integration, as we know, for most of our people may not mean much as a vocabulary” said Eng. Mahboub Maalim, addressing the 5th African World Business Congress and first IGAD Investment Forum 2009 held in Addis Ababa, last week.
