POSITION: Project Officer for the Migration Programme
REPORT TO: PM for Health and Social Development
DUTY STATION: Djibouti
DURATION OF SERVICE: One year with possibility of Extension
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE COORDINATOR:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager for Health and Social Development the incumbent will undertake the following tasks:
- Develop work plan activity – time schedules for the implementation of Migration Programme funded under the 10EDF.
- Coordinate with IGAD focal person, Member States the implementation of the programme.
- Prepare quarterly progress reports for submission to the programme submission to the programme steering Committee.
- Oversee the establishment of a Monitoring and Evaluation system and supervise its effective operation including timely preparation of monitoring reports.
- Coordinate very closely with other technical staff involved in Migration matters.
- Organise the meetings of the programme.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the IGAD Executive Secretary or the Programme Manager for Social Development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least a Master Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent.
- Good understanding of the multi-sectoral approach to Migration issues.
- At least 5-10 years experience of Management of a Programme on Migration.
- Experience in managing Donor funded projects will be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent writing, communication and negotiation ability to prepare clear and concise reports and work with Government/Regional Organisation counterparts.
- Appropriate computer skill is a necessity.
- Fluency in one of the working languages of IGAD (English/French). Competency in the other would be an added advantage.
LOCATION:
The Consultant will be coordinated from the IGAD Secretariat Headquarters in Djibouti.
LANGUAGE(s): Fluency in English and French is an asset.
