(IGAD – Djibouti) Ms. Eleonora Del Daudio, the Regional Officer of The Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery paid a working visit to the IGAD Secretariat. The Salam Centre, an initiative of Emergency, provides life saving surgery and treatment to the people in Sudan and IGAD region.
Ms. Del Daudio said that her organization is working with governments of the IGAD region in order to create a network of hospitals with complementing specialities. The initiative will provide free quality healthcare to the citizens of the region and training to the health professionals.
“Our objective is the creation of Health Network of Excellence in Africa (ANME- African Network of Medical Excellence) in various medical specialties, to strengthen national and regional systems of health,” said Ms. Eleonora Del Daudio.
IGAD’s Director of Administration and Finance, Mr. Bwango Apuuli, who welcomed Ms. Del Daudio to the secretariat stated that the initiative of Emergency as step in the right direction. “The network of Medical Excellences will create regional cooperation and boost our integration plans,” he said.
