17-12-2015 (Uganda) – The Inter Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Security Sector Program (ISSP) and Global Counter-Terrorism (GCTF) are holding a regional workshop to look into ways that the IGAD Member States including Tanzania can work together to criminalize terrorism financing as well as learn, share and adopt best practices as stipulated in the Rabat Memorandum.

Djibouti, 3-12-2015: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) held a Research Validation workshop with senior officials from different ministries and departments of the Government of Djibouti to review and analyze research findings and recommendations that was undertaken between September and December of 2014 on border security and management between Djibouti and Somaliland border given Djibouti’s unique geographical placement.

On 25 November 2015, IGAD and the UN jointly briefed the Permanent Missions of IGAD Member States based in New York on the outcome of the IGAD-UN High Level Dialogue on Peace and Security that was concluded in Djibouti on 17 November. The dialogue was organized to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations in the field of peace and security and to consolidate partnership in conflict prevention and peace-making that are pertinent to the Horn of Africa region.

Djibouti, 30-11-2015 – The Inter Governmental Authority on Development Security Sector Program (ISSP) in partnership with the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) are attending a three days workshop attended by seasoned counter terrorism practitioners, experts in national intelligence services, policy makers, judges, public prosecutors, human rights commissioners, police and legal counsels within the IGAD region and the Republic of Tanzania to focus on how human rights and counterterrorism can be a good practice in preventing, investigating and prosecuting terrorism cases in the Horn of Africa region.

Djibouti, 17-11-2015: A Joint Framework for Cooperation on Peace and Security between IGAD and the UN Department for Political Affairs was signed this afternoon in Djibouti City in the presence of IGAD Member States, the Secretariats of IGAD and the UN, UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes and the African Union in Djibouti City.
