Fourth Steering Committee Meeting for the Regional Drought Resilience and Sustainability Platform was convened today in Addis Ababa bringing together Member States and Partners of IGAD. The aim of the meeting is to take stock of the progress of the resilience program ahead of an IGAD ministerial meeting on the state of the resilience in the region.

IGAD ministerial meeting on the Drought Resilience Program will be held on Friday, March 27th, 2015 in Addis Ababa at Hotel Hilton.

Nanyuki (Kenya), 16-03-2015: This morning at Nanyuki in Kenya, IGAD Inland Water Resources Management Programme (INWRMP) and the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Natural Resources (MEWNR) of Kenya kick-started a five-day Training Course on Integrated Water Resources Management for the Water Resources User Associations (WRUAs) hailing from the Northern parts of Kenya.

Kiira County Town (Uganda), 09-03-2015 – This morning at Kiira County Town in Uganda, IGAD Inland Water Resources Management Programme (INWRMP) and the Ministry of Water and Environment of Uganda kick-started a five-day Training Course on Integrated Water Resources Management for NGOs involved in the implementation of water and sanitation projects in the country of Uganda.

Ugandan NGOs active in the sector of water such as urban water, rural water, and water catchment projects and programmes are invited to share experience and best practices while being exposed and trained in water management.

Nairobi, 23-02-2015: The IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Center (ICPAC) in conjunction with the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) this morning inaugurated its 39th Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF 39) in Nairobi with Dr Richard Lesiyampe, Principal Secretary State Department of Environment and Natural Resources of Kenya, as Guest of Honour, and in the presence of , Mr Mohamed Moussa, Director-Agriculture and Environment Division-IGAD, Mr John Mungai, Representative of the East African Community (EAC), Dr JUNG Hong-Sang, Vice-Administrator-Korean Meteorological Administration, Dr Guleid Artan, ICPAC Director, and Mr James Kongoti, Director of Kenya Meteorological Department.
